The Administrator of the Chaldean church letter to the L’Oeuvre d’Orient

Mgr Hugues de Woillemont the General Director of the Œuvre d’Orient

Your eminence, excellency, sisters, Fathers and the service group of the  Œuvre d’Orient

Peace in Christ our Lord,

On behalf of His beatitude Patriarch Paules Nona the 3rd,  I would like to take this opportunity to present my deepest gratitude to you for inviting me to attend this blessed gathering on the 170th anniversary celebration of  “L’Oeuvre d’Orient. Your love and help is encouraging Chaldean dioceses in the Middle East as they navigate a difficult situation since the 19th century, so we are gratitude for that.

Our Church, in cooperation with its sister Churches, has always been a sign of hope, proclaiming the Good News of Christ, and planting seeds of love.

We all know the importance of the Christian presence in Iraq & Middle East, and its belief in coexistence with others, establishing a culture of peace, and insisting the dignity of the human person.

As you know, 85% of the Christian population have been migrated Iraq since the eruption of the war between Iraq & Iran in 1980. We hope that you continue working for this persecuted church.

I recall the Book of Acts and the Apostle Paul’s letter, where churches helped one another. You are living through the atmosphere of those years.

Thank you for re-building schools, reconstructing and renovating religious, cultural & pastoral centres everywhere till Basra in the south. This is especially after Daesh entered Mosul. These centres are used for festivities, practising faith & culture plus pastoral care. Today we have many schools, cultural & educational centres serving Iraqi young and adults. These are for all Iraqis.

I take this opportunity to thank also, other western churches: the Fraternity of Iraq, Caritas, the John Paul II Foundation etc.

With all good wishes to you for your mission, I assure of my prayers for you.
